About a year ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and even with medication I found myself to be in constant pain, have major sleep issues and was exhausted all the time. I met with Shawn one day for coffee and we started discussing how she was coaching others on becoming healthier.
I should tell you I have been overweight almost my entire life. I was at my first weight watchers meeting at the age of 13. So I am someone who has tried almost every diet plan out there. I signed up with Shawn for 90 days to start. Honestly, I expected to hear more of what I already knew.
But I was surprised when she didn’t come in and start telling me what to do. She listened, I mean really listened. And unlike anyone before she saw a huge correlation of the stressful life I live, my lack of good rest and eating habits and how my body was rapidly declining. She quickly noticed that it wasn’t that I was eating too much or all the wrong things, it was that I wasn’t eating enough, I was rushing while I ate and just wasn’t putting myself as a priority.
My weekly Facetime sessions became something I looked forward to. The accountability to putting my health first has been so important. In the time working with Shawn, I was able to join a Crossfit box, lose 10 pounds without intentionally trying, began sleeping better and ultimately I was able to get off the medication I was taking for Fibromyalgia.
This has been a game changer for me. I am so grateful for her investing her time in me and I can’t wait to see how much better I can be as we continue to work together in this coming year!
